My 5 month old son, Damien, loves music.
We often sit near the choir in church. Our chorus contains a large number of young women. Damien coos and returns their smiles often. He babbles along and bounces in my arms.
My sister-in-law is 9 years old. She sings him all sorts of jingles. My mom sings the songs from my childhood to him. My husband, John, sings whatever pops into his head, including:
- Your Song by Elton John, as sung by Janet Devlin or in Moulin Rouge,
- Shake It Off by Taylor Swift, and especially
- All About That Bass by Meghan Trainer. (But I prefer All About That UPRIGHT Bass by the PostModern JukeBox.)
Ok, ok. So the YouTube videos aren’t exactly things to watch with your grandmother. But they are full of bright colors and hip beats. I think that trumps Baby Einstein any day.
